Things to Do on Salt Spring Island

The island offers two golf courses; one is situated at the central part of the island and the other is a few minutes south of Ganges.

Kayaking, sailing, and boating sports of all kinds are popular. Fishing is great all around the island, all year. There are three major docks in Ganges, and a public warf in both Vesuvius and Fulford Harbour. Kayaks, canoes, and sports fishing boats are for rent and tours are also provided.

Sky divers come from near and far to glide down from Mt. Tuam or Maxwell Mountain into the Fulford Valley.

Salt Spring has many artists, and in the summer they open their homes and galleries to visitors, through Artist's Studio Tours. Farm tours are also open on many of the unique heritage farms.

Tennis courts may be found at Central and in the Fulford Valley. There's a fitness centre in downtown Ganges and several other gyms around the island.

Bike rentals and motorcycle rentals are offered from Ganges.

Hiking is popular all over the island; there are many well kept trails. Great lake and ocean swimming can be found on many beaches.

A Saturday Farmer's Market takes place in Centennial Park in downtown Ganges from April to October, rain or shine. Local produce is sold, as well as many fine crafts, artwork, music, clothes, preserves, fun foods; all of which are all made on Salt Spring.

Also to be found in Ganges are great shops, art galleries, cafes, restaurants, pubs, entertainment, banking and internet, and medical services.
